There are several models of change management, each with its own set of steps and strategies to guide the change process. In this essay, we will analyze three of the most commonly used models of change management: Lewin's Change Management Model, Kotter's 8-Step Change Model, and Prosci's ADKAR Model.

Lewin's Change Management Model Lewin's Change Management Model was introduced in the 1950s by Kurt Lewin, a social psychologist. This model consists of three stages: Unfreeze, Change, and Refreeze. The Unfreeze stage involves preparing for change by breaking down the existing mindset and establishing a sense of urgency. The Change stage involves implementing the change and involves communication, training, and support. The Refreeze stage involves anchoring the change and ensuring that it becomes a permanent part of the organization's culture.

Lewin's model is simple, easy to understand, and widely used. However, it has been criticized for being too simplistic and not accounting for the complexities of change management. The model assumes that once the change is implemented, it will remain permanent, which is not always the case. Additionally, it doesn't account for the resistance that may arise during the change process.

Kotter's 8-Step Change Model Kotter's 8-Step Change Model was introduced by John Kotter, a Harvard Business School professor. This model consists of eight stages: Create Urgency, Form a Powerful Coalition, Create a Vision for Change, Communicate the Vision, Remove Obstacles, Create Short-term Wins, Build on the Change, and Anchor the Changes in Corporate Culture.
