The Glasgow Comma Scale (GCS) is a standardized neurological assessment tool used to objectively evaluate the level of consciousness and neurological functioning in patients, particularly those with traumatic brain injuries, coma, or other conditions affecting the central nervous system. It was developed in 1974 by Graham Teasdale and Bryan Jennett at the University of Glasgow, hence the name.
